Have you ever been torn between the battle of using your eyes and the lens of a camera?? Well I have, countless times, you see when capturing moments takes center stage and becomes priority. Unless, of course ,if capturing moments is how you bring home the beacon then be sure that enjoying those in-between moments of taking in all of where you are and actually capturing it is something you are bound to miss out . Immersed in the absurd phenomenal of "if I wasn't seen on the scene then it probably didn't happen", many of us end up being robbed the opportunity to take in everything else that wasn't captured. For instance the feeling you had when you see that clear blue water for the first time or when you insidiously smile at what seemed like an absent joy bringer one only you could see or the wordless wonder filled monologue you have with yourself, trying to fathom how something could be so beautiful. Ohh yes and not forgetting the sweet symphony that finds it's way out of you mouth in form of song, because simple words are just not enough to express this moment you are having. Well at least that's how it plays out on my side.
In that very moment of not trying to capture that which is free. You realize that it's just you and all that the is the world, and it's worth it because you're taking it all in. One memory at a time choosing to be a part of it and not just taking part of it.
I have nothing against documenting in which ever form people and places. I myself in many circumstances have fallen short of doing exactly that. All I am saying note to self as well. Taking it all in is definitely worth a pose, from whatever might selfishly want to sabotage that you and the world moment .There's a great satisfaction that one gets from acknowledging the physical company of the people around or the admiration of Gods' beautiful hand work, or just taking a moment to actually "be" . Clearly there are somethings that can only be experienced and never captured. Things that can only be experienced by you.
This does not only apply to those unforgettable vacations, discovering new places and things or the once in a lifetime celebrations but to each passing moment of life .Especially now more than ever when people feel a greater need to showcase and capture every aspect of their lives, rather than actually living it. Soon you'll see people documenting the simple act of how they inhale and exhale, yeah it could get crazier than it actually is. We are so caught up in letting others in on an experience we are hardly actually taking part in. Too distracted with the virtual things that are easily forgotten, we get absorbed into an Instagram story or snap chat that lasts only for seconds yet loosing moments that would last a lifetime. To intentionally be present at that particular moment in your life is crucial because it is then, that you live the real story of your life. A story you can always look back to and be grateful to yourself , that for a moment in time you decided to just be.
In capturing the moment don't be captured away.
